During a Police Forum held in the Reading Room in 2020 the issue of traffic not adhering to the speed limit in the village was raised by residents and it was suggested that Community Speed Watch was an appropriate way of monitoring speeds and doing something positive to address the issue and to try to improve safety in the village.
Since then, the Parish Council has been working with the Southam Safer Neighbourhood Team, (there have been unavoidable delays due to the coronavirus pandemic), to arrange for training for volunteers and also to complete the formalities necessary to enable us to start to monitor the speeds of traffic that travels through our village.
We have now received notification from the Southam Safer Neighbourhood Team that they are now in a position to support us and have now reserved places on the next available training programme which they hope will be later in the year.
The Parish Council will, at least in the first instance be responsible for the co-ordination of this group, and we are now asking for any resident of Avon Dassett one who is interested in helping to improve safety in our village to volunteer to be a part of this group.
Anyone who is prepared to help is asked to complete the form below.
The Parish Council will then liaise with the Southam Safer Neighbourhood Team and arrange for a meeting of volunteers to take this project forward.
